12. Concluding remarks

This presentation has supplied the complete statement of all the model equations solved by ROSA-EARTH.

The mathematical model has been built upon the PHOENICS as special GROUND subroutine. The physical processes described are activated by logical switches from the menu options or Q1 files.

The library of examples is provided for exemplifications of different modelling option activationand performance.

The developers of ROSA intend to maintain and elaborate the information provided in parallel with the ongoing improvements of the ROSA add-on.

The examples of applications show good agreement with observed data and demonstrate the usefullness of the oil spill simulation model in emergencies.

Although developed for oil spill simulation, the model can also be used for the simulations of chemical spills in rivers, lakes and seas.

Further topics to be dealt with in the continuation of the present paper will, in fact, include the alternative technique to track individual oil parcels in a Lagrangian framework and implementation of Multi-Fluid-Population concept to predict the movement and composition of oil spillages. These features are already available in current ROSA module being under the testing and validation.
